Meet live-action Mulan. You’re not alone if you think Disney might be overdoing it with the live-action remakes of classic animated films.
In recent years, audiences have been treated to remakes of Cinderella, The Jungle Book, and Beauty and the Beast. This year alone, we’re seeing live-action remakes of Dumbo, Aladdin, The Lion King, and Lady and the Tramp.
The trend is set to continue through to next year. Mulan is hitting cinemas in March 2020 and is set to re-energize the story for younger audiences.

When the Emperor of China issues a decree that one man per family must serve in the Imperial Army to defend the country from Northern invaders, Hua Mulan, the eldest daughter of an honored warrior, steps in to take the place of her ailing father. The film is directed by Niki Caro from a screenplay by Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver and Elizabeth Martin & Lauren Hynek based on the narrative poem “The Ballad of Mulan.”
2020 will also see a live-action remake of Cruella, The Little Mermaid, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame. To date, Disney’s remakes have made an estimated $6.8 billion at the box office.
