It’s not immediately obvious to most people, but Green Day actually has some of the most compelling lyrics from bands out there. They rose to prominence in the early 2000s during the War on Terror with their album, American Idiot.

It is wildly accepted that the album is a scathing review of the Bush administration and its response to the 9/11 attacks. Today, some of their biggest hits include Basket Case, Holiday, and Boulevard of Broken Dreams.
