Tenet Earns $20 Million At U.S. Box Office In Opening Weekend
Although Director Christopher Nolan's new film release Tenet only grossed around $20 million over the Labor Day holiday weekend at the box office, critics are saying it did OK. It's no secret that 2020 has been an incredibly tough year for the entertainment industry.
With movie theaters closed due to COVID-19, and social distancing orders deterring movie fans from going out to see the few films that are being shown, studios are between a rock and hard place.
So although it cost the studio $200 million to make Tenet, and only grossing $20 million in the first weekend in the U.S., and $150 million globally, they're calling it a decent opening weekend. Now, other studios are looking at Tenet's numbers to decide if they want to go ahead and release a new film in 2020, or wait until 2021.
The numbers do show that the film release did better internationally at the box office, than in the U.S., where the number of Coronavirus cases are the highest.
