The show must go on-- After a long hiatus due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, Hollywood is getting back to work. Top stars have been seen filming TV and movies once again while following strict guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19. This includes the seventh installment of Mission Impossible. Starring Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt, Cruise also acts as a producer and is a huge component of the franchise. In December 2020, audio from the set was leaked where Cruise can be heard yelling at the crew on the set for not staying six feet apart from one another, as guidelines state.

The two crew members were standing next to one another, looking at the same computer when Cruise shouted at them. After the audio was leaked, some came to Cruise's defense. An insider told The Sun, "It's the end of a really tough year, and a bit of time out seems like a good idea for everyone as tensions have been mounting for a while."

On December 18, 2020, Cruise announced that the film set would be closing. He felt that it was best for everyone to break early for Christmas, and take some time away from the set to ease tensions. As heard on the audiotape, Cruise has been working relentlessly to ensure that filming continues, assuring studio executives that they're correctly following guidelines. Filming MI7 on location in Venice, Italy was already delayed once in 2020. The film is expected to release on November 19, 2021.
