In the Vampire Diaries there were plenty of heart-wrenching breakups but none more so than Sefan and Elena. Elena had an increasingly complicated relationship with vampire brothers Stefan and Damon who she was infatuated with.

It wasn’t until her transformation into a vampire that everything became clear and she could see Stefan’s building discomfort in accepting her change while Damon welcomed the change. After realizing who was best for her, she ended things with Stefan and confessed her love for Damon.
