This artist’s name is Ard Gelinck and he has done the amazing: he has partnered pictures of his favorite performers with images of their younger selves. Now appearing to be friends with their former selves, these celebrities have been given a new way to look.

Check out this amazing art over the page.

Whitney Houston

Another icon from the 1980s, Whitney Houston rose to international fame following her solo album in 1985. Her powerful voice and strong personality made her loved by millions and she successfully transitioned to cinema, appearing in 1991’s The Bodyguard.

We love how these versions of her carry a strong smile and personality. She remained a performer until the very end of her life, which sadly ended in 2012. Over her career, she won two Emmy Awards and six Grammy Awards.

Elvis Presley

It looks like these two Elvises would be friends with each other. Of course, we know that there is only one Elvis Presley – someone who is still making an impact today. He is considered one of America’s greatest performers and is an icon of the 20th century.

Sadly, he died at the young age of 42 of a heart attack. Before then, he was an accomplished singer, songwriter, actor, and philanthropist. We can see in this photo how his health was deteriorating before his death in 1977.

Amy Winehouse

We would think this was a photo of a mother and daughter if we didn’t know better! Of course, Amy Winehouse rose to fame as one of Britain’s most unique voices. Her two albums, Frank and Back To Black won international acclaim.

Instagram / photo_time_traveling/

Winehouse sadly died in 2011 at the age of 27 – never having children of her own. Back To Black became, after her death, the top-selling British album of the 21st century. She will live on in people’s hearts for years to come.

Annie Lennox

This almost looks as though the Eurythmics star could be her own mother. This particular moment from her career is from 1983’s Sweet Dreams era – a song still popular among young people today. Annie Lennox continued to wow audiences with her powerful voice and singing ability.

The Eurythmics were together from 1980-1990, and then again from 1999-2005. Their first run together helped shape the music industry in the 1980s, making some of the biggest anthems still enjoyed today.

Lionel Richie

What advice would the older Richie give to his younger self? This singer was also popular in the 1980s with hits like Endless Love, Hello, and All Night Long. Younger audiences might know him as a judge on American Idol and the father of IT-Girl Nicole Richie.

Instagram / photo_time_traveling/

We love that he has kept his signature mustache after all these years. Richie was, of course, originally a member of The Commodores in the 1960s before he ventured out on his own – a risk that paid off!

Britney Spears

Britney Spears came to our attention in 1998 with the release of her classic tune Hit Me Baby One More Time. Ever since then, she has continued to entertain us with more musical numbers like Toxic, I’m A Slave 4U, and Womanizer. At only 16, she was an icon.

In 2007, Spears suffered a public meltdown that resulted in her children being taken away from her and being institutionalized. Thankfully, she came out of it stronger than ever and still entertains today. She has since had a successful career in business with fragrances.

Mick Jagger

No, this isn’t a photo of Mick Jagger with Harry Styles! The artist here makes it look as though these two heartthrobs are meeting – but it’s his younger self. Fans are aware of the striking resemblance between the two artists and can’t help but draw comparisons.

Instagram / photo_time_traveling/

Of course, Jagger was the lead of The Rolling Stones, one of the biggest bands of the 1960s. Today, he remains a cultural gem and represents the wild times of sex, drugs, and rock and roll.

Boy George

Boy George may have aged, but his style has remained timeless! The 57-year-old British singer was a member of Culture Club in the 1980s. Their hits included Karma Chameleon and Do You Really Want To Hurt Me?

Instagram / photo_time_traveling/

We love how the artist here has managed to maintain George’s personality and use of makeup during this ‘shoot’. His older self is wrapping a protective arm around his younger and more vulnerable self. Truly one of the biggest icons of the 1980s!

Michael Jackson

Here, the artist has chosen to highlight three pivotal moments in Jackson’s life. The artist was never short of controversy and his changing appearance would often raise eyebrows among fans and critics alike.

Instagram / photo_time_traveling/

Regardless, Michael Jackson can certainly claim to be one of the greatest artists to have ever lived. His off-the-wall personality and unique anthems are still being rocked today. His album, Thriller, remains the most successful album in history despite being released in 1982! Do you miss him?

Aretha Franklin

Here is Aretha Franklin performing a duet with herself – something that would surely be an extraordinary experience! The soul singer wowed audiences for 50 years, rising to fame as early as the 1950s.

Instagram / photo_time_traveling/

Her classic anthems are enjoyed today and include Respect, Chain of Fools, Think, and (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman. Sadly, she died in August 2018 of Pancreatic Cancer. Famously, she sang at the 2009 inauguration of Barack Obama – America’s first black President.

Madonna

If these two Madonnas met, do you think they would recognize each other? The Queen of Pop has enjoyed a 30-year career which has survived due to her ability to entirely transform and adapt to the changing music industry.

Instagram / photo_time_traveling/

Madonna has sold more than 300 million records, making her the best-selling female artist of all time according to the Guinness World Records. Her songs include Like A Virgin, Vogue, and Papa Don’t Preach. Do you like the musical icon?

Paul McCartney

As a member of The Beatles, Paul McCartney was a member of one of the world’s biggest bands. Here, we can see a father-and-son moment being recreated by the artist as he poses with his younger self.

Instagram / photo_time_traveling/

The Beatles disbanded in 1969 but McCartney has enjoyed a nearly 50-year career since then! Today, he performs Hey Jude whenever he gets a chance to and is widely considered to be one of the biggest British icons still alive today. The young man in the photo has a journey to look forward to!

Sting

Do you think the young Sting would be shocked to see his future self without hair? Thankfully, the artist composed the image to make it look like he doesn’t mind too much! Here, we can see the former The Police singer comforting his younger self.

Instagram / photo_time_traveling/

Sting was part of The Police between 1977 and 1982, but successfully launched a solo career in 1985. Today, he is best known for classic anthems like Englishman In New York and Shape of My Heart.

George Michael

Once a member of WHAM!, George Michael became one of the biggest British singers and performers of all time. His classic songs include Careless Whisper, As, Last Christmas, and Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go.

Instagram / photo_time_traveling/

We love how the photographer has paired these two: a serious young man compared with a more relaxed older and wiser soul. Sadly, George Michael died on Christmas day in 2016. After his death, it was revealed he was a big supporter of HIV and AIDS care – funding much of their research.

Beyonce

We don’t see much of a difference here, do you? Here are the two Beyonce’s smiling at the camera, and we can’t say that much has changed. The singer is still a gorgeous performer who is seen as somewhat of a Kween.

Instagram / photo_time_traveling/

Beyonce rose to fame as one-third of Destiny’s Child in 1997. Today, the 37-year-old is worth $355 million and widely considered an icon in the industry. The artist should recreate this in another 20 years! There’s much more to this story.

Robbie Williams

Robbie Williams was the original ‘bad boy’ in the boy band trend of the 1990s. As a member of Take That, he was in the hearts and minds of young women everywhere.

Instagram / photo_time_traveling/

Once the band broke up, Williams had a huge career, with hits like Angels, Rock DJ, and Feel. We love how the younger version as his arm on the older Robbie, almost suggesting that he’s the one looking after him. Today, Robbie can be seen on The X Factor.

Mariah Carey

Is there a bigger icon than Mariah Carey? The 48-year-old comes around every year with her classic 1994 hit All I Want For Christmas Is You. Her amazing voice has often had people comparing her to Whitney Houston.

Instagram / photo_time_traveling/

The artist has placed these two next to each other, but she hardly appears to have aged a day! She has replaced the curls for waves highlights but still wears the smile wide and proud. Today, Carey is considered an American icon in with her grand performances.

Freddie Mercury

Sadly, there is not a large age gap in this photo of the Queen singer. Freddie Mercury died at 46 in 1991 after battling HIV and AIDS soon after its outbreak in the 1980s. He remains nothing shy of an icon among music lovers around the world.

Instagram / photo_time_traveling/

Queen rocked our world in the 1970s and 1980s and the British band helped redefine rock. We have written about Freddie Mercury and his extraordinary life, which you can read here.

David Bowie

Here, the artist has positioned an older, wiser, David Bowie above his younger counterpart. At the time when he was Ziggy Stardust, his bare top shows a vulnerability that is perfectly contrasted with the suited older man.

Instagram / photo_time_traveling/

Sadly, the world said goodbye to David Bowie in 2016 and the music scene has not been the same since. He will be remembered for his timeless classics and kooky style – helping redefine what it meant to be a man today.
